[quoteicon author=”Julie Moenck”]It’s a Lab Thing has inspired me to seek out a Labrador Rescue that may benefit from some great photos. I’m just getting started, so if you have any suggestions in southern Minnesota, send them my way![/quoteicon]
“After years of talking ourselves out of adding a dog to our family, and finally coming to terms with the fact that we likely won’t have children of our own, we sought out a lab puppy from a Labrador breeder friend. Ten-week-old Gill, short for Bluegill (like the fish) joined our family in April 2011. My husband has trained him as a faithful pheasant hunting companion, and I love Gill for the long Saturday morning walks we enjoy together in our small town.”
Julie fully admits she bought her Nikon D3100 (upgrade from a Cannon A530 point-and-shoot) as a pre-dog present to herself. She has taken pictures since she received her first camera – a Kodak 110 film camera – when she was 10 years old. Friends, family, nature, travel. But taking pictures of our lab, Gill, has brought me much joy as I learn the finer points of photography.
[quoteicon author=”Julie”]It’s so great to get home at the end of the day to be greeted with a kiss from my husband and the wagging tail and wet nose of our kid, Gill.[/quoteicon]

Great picture’s!
great pics..and beautiful dog:)
Beautiful photos of a beautiful dog. Julie’s story has a resonance with me as I couldn’t have children of my own, which is how we ended up with dogs, which have included Labs, GSD, and mainly Border Collies.
Beautiful pictures of a fabulous breed!!
Beautiful work!
Thank you, everyone! What an honor to be featured on this page!
Geraldine – thank you for the touching comment!
Fine photography! I find black Labs especially difficult to photograph…enjoyed your pics!
